Blog Journal 6 28 February 2019 On a schools website, you can find plenty of helpful tools for students to succeed in their classroom, whether it's you, your student, or your entire class. Van. R Butler elementary school was the primary school I attended, so I decided to check back to see what had changed, how their website had developed, and even check out if some of my favorite teachers were still teaching there. Although Butler doesn't require each teacher to have class pages with their personal newsletters etc., they still have so many tools that would be helpful to me as a parent. Pubically, I can see events coming up, calendars, and parent-portal info for homework help. One thing I found especially helpful is the entire page of academic resources. On this page, you can find lists of numerous learning tools, games, and worksheets. Link to Butler Elementary's website Outside of the teacher world, there are countless ways technology can help anyone strive in t...

Blog Journal 5 21 February 2019 Diigo is a service you can download to your browser in order to help you save websites that you want to access later. I love that you can use it as a bookmark, just like the bookmark feature on regular browsers, but even more intricate. The features include being able to annotate what websites you save so you can add notes and a description to remind you what the website was about. I also like the feature in which you can add tags, so any website that you tag with the same keywords you will be able to access them all on a list. The only thing I don't like about it is that it can only be used on google chrome. Blogging is a great way to reach an audience that you don't have to specifically tailor your work towards. You can post your thoughts in another platform besides social media like Twitter where you know anyone can access it and read your opinions. The blogging process so far for my Education Technology course has been a new and interes...

Blog Journal 4 14 February 2019 Right when Twitter became a viral social media that everyone uses, it was not what it is today. My early experiences with Twitter could be described as light, humorous, and only interactive with my inner circle. In high school, my friends and I would use it to post funny things that would happen during school, share early memes, and most importantly, share photos like the ones we now share on our Snapchat Stories. I actually was thinking about this the other day: my freshman year of high school, Snapchat wasn't a "thing" yet. If I scroll back deep into my twitter, I find silly, unedited photos of the most random things, things I would now post on my snapchat, but never think about posting into the Twitter world. This goes to show how Twitter has become a much more serious site. I would say, out of all social media, twitter is the most professional in 2019. I believe this change is going to help me succeed in the future and in everyones ...

Blog Journal 3 7 February 2019 Putting on my 3rd grade teacher hat, I would feel confident in teaching many of the standards, such as LAFS.3.W.2.6: students must use technology to produce and publish writing (using skills) as well as to interact and collaborate with others, and LAFS.3.SL.2.5: students must demonstrate fluid reading at an understandable pace, adding visual displays and engaging audio recordings when appropriate to emphasize or enhance certain facts or details. I feel I would be able to teach both of these standards by creating visual representations and tutorials for my students, as well as teach them hands on and provide help as they do it in class until they are proficient. On the other hand, I am not sure how I would take the first step in going about teaching standard LAFS 3.W.3.8: Recall info from experiences or gather info from print and digital sources; take brief notes on sources and sort evidence into provided categories. Taking notes is a difficult topic t...
