Blog Journal 10 23 April 2019 Data collection and reporting is more important in the teacher world than many people think. Teachers use data collection even when they don't realize it. Even asking your students "let me see a show of hands how many of you would rather have cookies or cake for the holiday party," is data collection and surveying. Teaching at all ages has its fair share of data collection through surveys, but especially in older grades such as high school and college. After every semester in college, students have to take surveys on each of their classes, teachers, and even their TA's. If I pursue a career in education, I am sure I will use not only surveying but excel as well in my everyday career. Simply because grade-booking is something every teacher has to do. Blog Journal 2 29 January 2019 My experience using Microsoft Word as a student is a little bit different than I've seen my teachers use it in the past. Students use Word to complete assignments, type out papers, and even to just take sloppy notes in class. When a teacher uses Microsoft Word, they use it more professionally. Teachers have to know how to be organized on Word to create worksheets and print-ables for their students, which have to be perfectly spaced and formatted right. Learning about copyrighting and plagiarism has always been a confusing subject for me, because I feel like it was never taught specifically in school at a young age. I've had a few classes, but not until later in high school or college, that we've had lessons on how to cite correctly, and what to use and not to use. Blog Journal 4 14 February 2019 Right when Twitter became a viral social media that everyone uses, it was not what it is today. My early experiences with Twitter could be described as light, humorous, and only interactive with my inner circle. In high school, my friends and I would use it to post funny things that would happen during school, share early memes, and most importantly, share photos like the ones we now share on our Snapchat Stories. I actually was thinking about this the other day: my freshman year of high school, Snapchat wasn't a "thing" yet. If I scroll back deep into my twitter, I find silly, unedited photos of the most random things, things I would now post on my snapchat, but never think about posting into the Twitter world. This goes to show how Twitter has become a much more serious site. I would say, out of all social media, twitter is the most professional in 2019.
