Blog Journal 2

Blog Journal 2 29 January 2019 My experience using Microsoft Word as a student is a little bit different than I've seen my teachers use it in the past. Students use Word to complete assignments, type out papers, and even to just take sloppy notes in class. When a teacher uses Microsoft Word, they use it more professionally. Teachers have to know how to be organized on Word to create worksheets and print-ables for their students, which have to be perfectly spaced and formatted right. Learning about copyrighting and plagiarism has always been a confusing subject for me, because I feel like it was never taught specifically in school at a young age. I've had a few classes, but not until later in high school or college, that we've had lessons on how to cite correctly, and what to use and not to use. If I became an English teacher, I would definitely make it one of my big lesson plans to teach the ins and outs of copyright and fair use of materials. One of the biggest iss...

Blog Journal 1

Blog Journal 1 22 January 2019 Teacher's are influenced just as much as the students are to use technology in the classroom. One thing that influences us is our day to day lives using technology personally, so we naturally want to bring that into our professional or educational life as well. Student's also get excited to use new technologies and learn through watching videos, playing games, and doing hands on activities. Teachers love this because their students engage better when using phones, tablets and other things their used to using at home. There are many standards that students and educators must abide by in order to thrive in a constantly evolving technologic al world. One standard students must use in the classroom is titled "digital citizen." This standard is all about digital etiquette. It is imp ortant to teach this in class because today's kids are living through their social media accounts, and must be careful with what they're are posting ...

ISTE Standard #2 - Digital Citizen

Student Standard #2 is that st udents recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that are safe, legal and ethical. One way to incorporate  this standard into your classroom is by doing a class or lesson on digital etiquette and how to be a good digital citizen. For my lesson plan, I am going to play a fun, short, "Brain Pop" video for my students talking all about digital etiquette. First Day Intro

8 January 2019      Hi, my name is Hilary Richards and I am a 4th year senior at Florida State University.  I transferred here last year, from UCF in Orlando after realizing I wanted a more authentic, "college town" experience; the big city just wasn't for me. I am from the gorgeous Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, only two hours west of Tallahassee, (most people know as Destin).  My favorite hobby is getting slobbery kisses from my Great Dane, Yadi.       My current class, Intro to Education Technology has grabbed my interest because of it's involvement with learning and the technology we use every day. I believe I have a thorough background and history with basic educational technologies, such as Microsoft Office and Apple Interfaces. I also have some experience using Adobe illustrator and other Adobe platforms.       By the end of this class, I hope to learn more about the future of high-tech products in educat...
