Blog Journal 10 23 April 2019 Data collection and reporting is more important in the teacher world than many people think. Teachers use data collection even when they don't realize it. Even asking your students "let me see a show of hands how many of you would rather have cookies or cake for the holiday party," is data collection and surveying. Teaching at all ages has its fair share of data collection through surveys, but especially in older grades such as high school and college. After every semester in college, students have to take surveys on each of their classes, teachers, and even their TA's. If I pursue a career in education, I am sure I will use not only surveying but excel as well in my everyday career. Simply because grade-booking is something every teacher has to do. Independent Learning Project #2 Design: Google Classroom April 9, 2019 For our ILP #2, I chose to design a Google Classroom. By putting back on my teacher hat, I created an online classroom for my 3rd grade English class that I've been "teaching" for this semester. Google classroom is similar to online classroom resources like Canvas and Blackboard, except that it can be created by anyone and for anyone. Blog Journal 9 4 April 2019 A flipped classroom is a teacher-created approach to leanring in a different enviroment than the traditional classroom that we all know. In this approach, students learn the material and are taught the lesson at home, through video and online homework lessons. Then, the in-class time is used to practice and do acitivies that would normally be sent home as homework. This can be a great change for those students who aren't able to really grasp new concepts in a classroom setting, and then have toruble practicing and doing homework at home without the teachers help. A big problem teachers see with this idea is that some students fail to do the at-home lesson, and come to class confused as to what the practice is on.
